Professor Lee Chack Fan delivered the speech: “Why did I choose to study hydraulic engineering?”
Professor Lee Chack Fan, a world-renowned scientist in geotechnical engineering and water resource, delivered a wonderful speech, “Why did I choose to study geotechnical engineering”, in the afternoon of April 27th 2014 at Cheng Yu Tung College. The speech was co-organized by Civil and Environmental Engineering Department of Faculty of Science and Technology and Cheng Yu Tung College. Professor Lee used his own career experience as an example to explain how to merge his personal career development into national conditions to explore welfare for whole society. His speech touched all participants including more than 30 students and teachers and received great success.
Professor Lee Chack Fan is an Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), a Fellow of Canadian Academy of Engineering (CAE) and Fellow of Hong Kong Academy of Engineering Sciences (HKAES). He received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Western Ontario, Canada in 1972. Professor Lee served as a Vice Chancellor of University Hong Kong from 2000 to 2008. He is currently the Director of HKU School of Professional and Continuing Education and Chair Professor of Geotechnical Engineering.
