Cheng Yu Tung College (CYTC) held the first High Table Dinner for this academic year in the evening of September 4, 2019. The distinguished guest speaker of the High Table Dinner was the Dean of Faculty of Science and Technology, Prof. Xu Chengzhong. Other High Table guests included Ms. Sha Liman from Yuan Pei College of Peking University; Dean of Student Affairs of University of Macau (UM), Mr. Paul Pang; College Fellow, Prof. Tam Kin Yip from Faculty of Health Science, UM; College Fellow, Mr. Vong Peng Chun from Faculty of Business Administration, UM. We also had some guests sitting among students, including Ms. Yin Yujin from Yuanpei College of Peking University; Affiliate of CYTC, Dr. Chan Chi Hang from the State Key Laboratory of Analog and Mixed-Signal VLSI, UM; Affiliate of CYTC, Dr. Xu Jianhua from Faculty of Social Science, UM; Ms. Betty Tam, Residential College (RC) Coordinator, UM; Mr. Rishi Ling from Princeton in Asia program and 10 exchange students from Yuanpei College of Peking University.
This Dinner was to honor and welcome freshmen and started with a vocal music performance by our year 3 students Ms. Chan Wanlu and Mr. Tan Xilong. They sang “A Whole New World” from the renowned Disney movie Aladdin to give the best wishes to all the freshmen. In the welcoming remarks, Interim Master, Dr. Lee Wee Keng encouraged all freshmen to enjoy their university life and CYTC life. Then Prof. Xu gave a speech about “AI in Macau – a UM Perspective on AI”. Prof. Xu mentioned the AI historical development and introduction of UM initiatives. UM now focuses on the four research areas which are also richly possessed of Macau characteristics: AI for health, AI for Portuguese-Chinese, AI for Entertainment and AI for Robotics. More than 290 college members and guests of Cheng Yu Tung College attended the High Table Dinner and certainly enjoyed the speech and dinner.
